Ego-Googling?

Now, google wants to index your kids as well….

Link

Well, not quite – yet… but I’m really starting to doubt the amount of info Google is ‘eating’. And it is starting to worry me. I consider moving any new documents to Zoho, for instance… I don’t like all my eggs in one basket…

Nobody is Making Money Online from Susan Boyle Video (Yet)

Unless you lived in an exceptionally dark cave in the last two weeks, you probably weren’t able to escape the Susan Boyle phenomenon. According to some metrics, over 100 million people have watched the immaculately edited video of the ‘frumpy’ 47-year-old’s performance on Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) by now.

This remains the big problem of the Internets… how to make money online? Along the same lines is this new Firefox-plugin:

Link

This plugin ‘rerenders’ the page to disable all items except the main-content. This could be seen as brilliant… and there are a lot of sites where I would like to skip all the trash. But how do content owners get any kind of money then? But the fact remains that it is getting increasingly difficult to make any kind of money online…

Another reason to dislike spam: it is very damaging to the environment

New research shows spam emails, 62 trillion of them last year, generated greenhouse gases equivalent to driving a car around the planet 1.6 million times.

Although this number seems to me a bit high… it does cause a lot of damage!

DELL Adamo

What the hell where they thinking at DELL?

Here’s the deal: the Adamo is really expensive. Not just expensive for a PC. Not just expensive for an ultralight. Not just expensive for an underpowered computer. It’s just expensive. Expensive in the sense that you’re being charged a lot of money for something that seems like it shouldn’t cost so much.

God Makes Surprise Visit To Local Church

The Onion is at it again:

Parishioners at the First Presbyterian Church were left stunned and in awe of His glory Sunday, when the Lord God Almighty dropped by their 11 a.m. service unannounced.

If only He did… then I would cease to be a atheist :-)

Final case against DRM

Some Kindle users are angry because Amazon blocked them from their Kindle accounts, thereby blocking them from accessing their already-purchased media. Even if these stories are exaggerated, they once again highlight the caveats that come with DRMed media. You don’t own your content—Amazon does.

This Ars Technica article is the perfect explanation of why I will never buy DRM’d media. And if I do (DVD, anyone?) I will try to get rid of the encryption…
